  • 13.2% inflation in March: The main surges came from dairy, meat, and vegetable products. While it is a slight slowdown from February (14.1%), the overall prices still rose 57.3% in the year's first quarter.

  • $10,000 peso note coming in May (Spanish): Good news for anyone who makes large purchases with cash. You’ll have to wait a bit longer for the $20,000 peso bill though (coming later this year.)

What’s your name, country of origin, and how long have you been in Buenos Aires?

Venetia Featherstone-Witty. Born in London, UK. I also lived in the US for many years. I have been in Buenos Aires since August of 2013.

What brought you to Buenos Aires, and how was the initial adjustment process?

Pretty easy - I make friends quickly.

What's been the most challenging aspect of living in Buenos Aires?

Adjusting to a new language and culture.

And what has been the most rewarding aspect of living here?

Making wonderful friends.

What's your favorite local restaurant, bar, or cafe, and why?

Parilla Le Gran Carniceria de la Plata in San Telmo. Many more.

What hidden gem in Buenos Aires deserves more recognition?

Not sure about hidden, but there are many gems in Palermo, Recoleta, La Boca, San Telmo, Las Canitas.

What advice would you give to new expats in Buenos Aires?

Find a local expat group, go to events and start making new friends
