🎤 Expat Interview

Welcome to our expat spotlight section.

This is where we interview both new and long-term expats in Buenos Aires and ask them to share their tips and recommendations.

Here’s the today’s interview:

What’s your name, country of origin, and how long have you been in Buenos Aires?

Milos Zemunovic from Bosnia & Herzegovina. Arrived happily over 2 years ago.

What brought you to Buenos Aires, and how was the initial adjustment process?

Its fame for a slow-paced lifestyle, attractive men, great meat, and being gay-friendly has brought me over!

Initially, in the first weeks during the honeymoon phase, it was awesome. Later more challenging after realizing how things actually work out in the country.

What's been the most challenging aspect of living in Buenos Aires?

With no doubt, the level and quality of services, private or public. There is plenty of space for improvement!!

And what has been the most rewarding aspect of living here?

Plenty, but here are some :)

1. Parks and tree lines everywhere 🌴🌳

2. Vegetable/fruit shops at every corner!!

3. Decent restaurants for everybody's pocket

4. Parties 🍸

What's your favorite local restaurant, bar, or cafe, and why?

Cafe Matteo (Honduras St.) has great avocado toast and the staff is friendly. The second is probably restaurant ROUX (Peña St.) for exceptional service and quality of food.

What hidden gem in Buenos Aires deserves more recognition?

Lago de Regatas isn’t known well enough. Great place to spend Sundays alone or with friends and family.

What advice would you give to new expats in Buenos Aires?

Work on your patience, learn Spanish quickly, and tip waiters and taxi drivers if the service is good, but not always.

Go to late parties sometimes even if it’s bedtime!

Thanks Milos for agreeing to this interview!

💡 Did You Know?

Line A of Buenos Aires' subway, opened in 1913, is Latin America's oldest, extending from Plaza de Mayo.

Built with over 31 million bricks, it features historic wooden carriages by La Brugeoise, showcasing early 20th-century craftsmanship.

These carriages, a symbol of the city's transit heritage, offered a nostalgic ride until modernization initiatives began.
